Raices Migrantes
We help families find and connect with their detained loved ones, we assist detainees who need assistance with commissary or phone accounts with donations we receive. We will also visit with detainees if they do not have someone to visit them to give them a boost as well as connection with the outside world. We help connect families and detainees with organizations that can help with financial aid for bonds or organizations that can help with legal assistance. We have partnered with other organizations to assist in returning detainees back home once they are released, since a lot of families live quite far or are also undocumented and cannot come to pick them up. We have also partnered with organizations to provide clothing/backpacks to the released detainees since many of them were picked up during warmer months. We have partnered with a church in Baldwin that has now opened a “Welcome Center” for the families of detainees as well as the detainees in case we need a place for them to stay safe and warm while we coordinate their return home or provide extra clothing for families if they’re turned away from visitation due to their dress code so they do not have to spend money or damage their clothing to be able to see their loved ones.

What/Who is the SOS (Sounds of Solidarity)?
About Your Hosts:
Many voices in our community are outraged by what’s happening right now. Some of those voices have begun finding each other, one conversation at a time, in solidarity. As the story spreads, the community grows around shared values and a simple intention: to put something better into the world than what we’re living through.
We don’t pretend this fixes broken systems, undoes violence, or restores decency overnight. But we do believe it matters to come together rather than sit back and watch it all fall apart.
Clarity over chaos. Care over cruelty. Presence over numbness. Kindness over blind hatred.
That’s why we’re here, and why we invite you to join us!
We are proud to be connected with the Kent County Indivisible to put on amazing events like Melt The ICE, Protest the plaza, and other events.

Please consider giving more to allow others less fortunate to attend, as no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
